Introduction to Our Organization
The Foundation for Healthcare Quality (HCQ) was founded in 2020 with a mission of providing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) support services to small, non-profit, community-based healthcare providers that do not have the resources or expertise to implement a comprehensive, systematic ERM program.
ERM, which is driven by Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, has been shown to reduce harm, improve outcomes, and preserve vital resources.
The idea for HCQ came from the desire to ensure equal access to high-quality, effective care for all patients, regardless of their socioeconomic or insurance status. The disparity in outcomes among those with access to high-quality, comprehensive care, and those who experienced significant barriers to accessing even basic care, was never more apparent than during the COVID-19 pandemic. That event, and the millions who suffered and died because they did not have the resources to get the care they needed, was a driving factor for bringing the vision of HCQ to fruition.
